CRNA- Monday through Thursday; no call

Hiring a CRNA to perform local, MAC, and general anesthesia care for surgical patients. Position is Monday through Thursday, approximately 7am to 3:30pm with no weekends, holidays, or on-call. Hours may require some flexibility based on case requirements. Preferred candidate will be able to place PICC lines, central lines, perform nerve blocks and pain injections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers anesthesia to any patient undergoing a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia. Performs a pre-anesthetic assessment/evaluation of the patient
  • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care.
  • Initiates the anesthetic plan by selecting the type of anesthesia.
  • Maintains the patient’s physiologic homeostasis and corrects abnormal responses to the anesthesia and/or surgery.
  • Collects and interprets patient physiological data by selecting, applying or inserting invasive monitoring modalities.
  • Manages the patient’s airway and pulmonary status.
  • Manages the patient’s emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Fosters open communication between patients, Nursing personnel, medical staff, and other employees of the hospital.
  • Cooperates with members of operating staff in observing aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures in preparing for and assisting with surgery.
  • May assist with critical patients in the Emergency Department during work hours.
  • Creates and maintains policies and procedures for anesthesia, ensuring changes are made as necessary.
  • Responsible for completing/assisting with narcotic counts. Communicates with Pharmacy to ensure drugs are stocked.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and holding a current license in the State of Iowa as a registered nurse.
  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.
  • Successfully completed the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor’s certification examination.
  • Meets the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists biennial recertification criteria.
  • Must be Basic Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, rural hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience as a CRNA required.
  • Prior experience in a rural or critical access hospital preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing both routine and emergent anesthesia cases with limited support.
  • Familiarity with general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, endoscopy, urology, podiatry, ENT and minor outpatient procedures.
